![]() (I believe I would still need the wifi router if I wanted to monitor the mini from the RV, or my tent or something.) But at any rate, once the session is going, I can unplug or turn off the mouse, keyboard, monitor, and wifi and thus save power. Having done this, I could get rid of the wifi, something that uses power, one of my goals. That way, no matter what, I could start the session, and take it from there either with that same keyboard, mouse, and monitor, or with the iPad./phone. So, having toyed with this for a while, I thought it might be good to go ahead and carry around a keyboard, mouse, and monitor to start a session. The virtual mouse (finger movements and taps) and virtual keyboard is a little slow. There are certain keys I need (ESC, and maybe more that I have not discovered) that do not seem to be present on the Apple keyboard. Now, while running on the iPad, I do have a bit of a problem. Is there a setting in the mini, or in Tight VNC, that I am missing to allow starting a session from a remote computer? Once running, I can get by running the session from the iPad. In short, I cannot seem to START a session with the iPad remotely. I could unplug that monitor and keyboard, and mouse, and continue the session. Almost all is right (see the next paragraph). Once there, Tight VNC can run pretty well. Ipad teamviewer host password#So, I plug a mouse and keyboard into the mini, and with a click of the space bar bring up the sign-on, and start the session through the password screen. If I hook the Mini into the monitor in the house, I can see the screen on the big monitor, and I can see it on the iPad using Tight VNC.but I cannot sign in and start the session from the iPad. But, the password input area is not displayed, and I cannot sign into the system from there. The iPad can see that Greeting screen when I connect with VNC. The Mini starts, and the startup screen is on display. Where I have my first problem with the newer mini/iPad is getting the session going. (This is true for both my home observatory and my obs in the desert.) But in either case, I am using the phone or pad to monitor an ONGOING session. Ipad teamviewer host windows#I'm in the house (or someplace), The Windows systems (not this new mini computer, but other Windows laptops and Desktops) are in the observatory. I regularly use Tight VNC on my iPhone or iPad to monitor and even control my remote sessions. Got it.Īnd I use my old iPad (Got it) for keyboard, mouse, and monitor.īut, the VNC connection between Apple and Windows is not as robust as I find on my other devices. So, the heart of the system is a 12 volt fanless mini computer. Ipad teamviewer host software#I chose not to go all the way to a Raspberry pi because I do no believe the software is user compatible (I'm the user, and it is not compatible with me-let's not go into why). Oh, and do it at a reasonable price, using stuff I already had if possible. ![]() I want to use my existing software SGP/PHD2/ASTAP/PlateSolve, etc. ![]() Easy to move around, set up, and use, but still offering me all the power that I need. This means small, lightweight, low (12) voltage, and low amperage. The whole goal of this exercise is to develop a capable mobile imaging rig. ![]()
